Our church began to encourage church members this season to begin some new traditions as a family. In doing so, one of our church members went into different homes to read Christmas stories to the kids and families. Of course we wanted her to come to us! We love books and were so excited. We invited the Blair family to join us. Mrs. Kim arrived with 3 books in hand that told about JESUS our greatest gift. Thank you to our church for doing this and to Mrs. Kim for taking up her time to do this.

Then on Wednesday night, our church went caroling to the shut-ins in our church. Lyla and Lily went with me. We were able to ride the church bus and had a joyous time. It warmed my heart to hear all of the kids in our group singing along.

Wednesday night Lyla and Lily were in their daycare's Christmas program. Lyla played the part of MARY! She was thrilled and did a great job. Lily sang her songs and stayed on the stage the whole time. We are so proud of them both and are so thankful for their school and the hard work they put into things for our children. Lyla learned a precious poem for the program about the Christmas story that I will share soon so we don't forget it.

Gingerbread Houses!

On Saturday morning, I hosted our 2nd Annual Mother/Daughter Christmas brunch where we made gingerbread houses! We had a blast! Before getting started on the houses, we ate and Grandmother read the Night Before Christmas for us to do a book swap!

The Preschool church choir presented "Follow the Star" on Sunday night at church. Lyla participated and did a wonderful job! She has grown up so much in one year. Last year she sat and did not sing one single word! This year, she did much better and sang, sang, sang! Thank you to Mrs. Pam and Mrs. Oakley for working with the kids each week! Your hard work paid off. It was wonderful and told about the true meaning of Christmas!

Well, Ellie the Elf, is back! The girls couldn't wait for her to arrive on December 1st! They left out crackers and water in anticipation, and Lyla left a note!

And the next morning, there she was!! The crackers and water were gone, and she had written the girls a note.

Thanksgiving

We began our Thanksgiving holidays with Grandmother. We spent Thanksgiving eve preparing for the next day. The girls had a great time "helping" Grandmother make dressing. Lyla and Lily got to crumble the cornbread!

The next morning was Turkey Day! We watched the parade on TV and waited for family to arrive to eat lunch with us. Grandmother prepared a delicious meal for us to enjoy!

We then had a fun day outside on the gorgeous day!

Thanksgiving Program and Feast

Lyla and Lily had their Thanksgiving Program and Feast today! Lyla was an Indian, and Lily was a Pilgrim. I was fortunate to get to leave my school for a little bit to go watch. They began with songs and poems and were too cute! Lily stayed on stage all of 2 minutes and then saw me. She then burst into tears and ran my way! Lyla did a great job and sang and performed the whole time! I am so proud of my shy, little one! She has come such a long way.

After the program it was feast time. It consisted of chicken nuggets, corn, tater tots, and cookies! :) They were all so cute and enjoyed every minute!

Peanut Festival Fair

Ashley and I took Lyla to the fair in Dothan. When I was growing up there wasn't a year that I missed going to the fair, but it has been many years since I have gone...therefore I was excited too!

Lyla wasn't sure what to expect since this was her first one, but when we arrived she got very excited. My family met us there too which made it more fun!

A Tribute to a Great Man

Our hearts are filled with sadness this month as we have had to say good-bye to the best husband, daddy, father-in-law, and granddaddy anyone could ask for. On November 7, our beloved "Aub" went to be with God...and as Lyla put it "Jesus lives there! He will make Aub well!" Even though we are very sad, we are thankful for the wonderful memories we have of him. He was so giving and the girls loved him very much. We are so thankful they got know him.

Thanksgiving is almost here and we have much to be thankful for!

I begin by being thankful for the preschool our children attend each day. The girls love going to school each day! Their teachers are so very special and make learning fun. They also teach them about God and Jesus and how much they love us.

Lyla had her second "family project" to complete for November. She had to disguise a turkey to keep him from getting eaten on Thanksgiving day. She wanted us to disguise him as Minnie Mouse! She is counting down the days when we can go back to Disney World already!

It's Halloween Day and time for some Trick-or-Treating fun! This year the girls were Peter Pan characters. Lyla was Wendy, Lily was TigerLily, and Lola was Tinkerbell! Our church has Trunk-or-Treat each year, and it is the best! We are blessed to have such a wonderful church that plans such family friendly events.

The girls made a Halloween night light for their bedrooms. They had a good time painting the mason jar with orange paint and gluing the face on the jar. When it dried, we put a battery operated light inside. They turned out very cute!

It's Lyla's 5th Birthday Party!!

On Saturday, October 22, we had a "Night Owl Party" for Lyla at our house. She wanted to have a slumber party. We did the PJs and stayed up late since they are really too little to sleepover!

Uncle Mills and Uncle Matthew brought a fun gift! A crayon making machine!

We began by making pizzas when all of the little girls arrived. They each got to make their own.

Then while they were cooking, we got our sleeping bags out and got ready for our glow-n-the-dark dance party.

Freeze Dance was a big hit!

Then the girls hunted for glow-n-the-dark stars. Each star had a number on it. They each had to find one!

Then it was party gift time! Each girl got their very own present which correlated with their number on their star. They each were given an owl to name and adopt as their very own!

None of the girls had trouble naming their owl! They were so excited!

Then it was story time!

After a story, we had popcorn and watched some fairytale movies!

Finally it was time for milk, cookies, cake and presents!!

We had the best time with all of the little girls at our house!

Lyla says that was the best birthday ever! :)

October 18th Lyla Jane turned FIVE! I can't believe my baby girl is FIVE. She has been waiting for this day for so long. Since her birthday fell on a school day this year, we got up bright and early to celebrate with singing and presents before school and work. Lily and Lola were so excited to see the presents waiting too!

She picked out one to open before school.

After school, Mommy went to party with Lyla's class at daycare.

We sang and had cupcakes with her friends.

For dinner, Lyla chose to eat at Cracker Barrel. She wanted pancakes for dinner!

Then it was home for more presents! She opened a Strawberry Shortcake house!! She was thrilled!

Lincoln Wins!!!

Friday night, the girls, Grandmother, and I traveled to watch Lincoln play Childersburg. It was nice cool, Fall evening. The score however was not so nice!

The girls didn't seem to mind though. All they care about is eating, watching for Daddy, and dancing with the cheerleaders and the band. They had the best time!

Daddy however was not having the best time for a while! The score was too close!

In the end, the Golden Bears came through and scored with 2 seconds left in the ballgame to win the game!!! Whooo hooo!! What an exciting ending!

Columbus Day...Let the sickness begin...

If there is a holiday, chances are someone is going to be sick!

Well on Columbus Day, two of the three girls woke up with fever, so to the doctor we went!

What a day!

Lola had an ear infection.

Lily had a fever virus! Her third one in six weeks!

So instead of going out and about on our holiday, we stayed put and got a whole lot of nothing done. The girls were excited though to wear their new outfits Grandmother sent to them!

We took meds, meds, and more meds....

and played!

Fall Fun!

Fall is here, and the weather the past few weeks has been wonderful!!!

The girls loved helping me decorate, and our pumpkins were the finishing touch!

Last Sunday afternoon, we took advantage of the warm temperatures and went on a bike ride! The girls had the best time!

Lyla is working hard to learn to peddle. I love her expressions!

Pumpkin Patch

Pumpkin patch....here we come! This year we decided to get to the pumpkin patch early in an effort to beat the crowds and the cold! We did just that! It was beautiful, and we had a great time!

We got there about 11:30 so we decided to first get a bite to eat...

After eating, we headed to the animals! The girls loved them!

Then we found some pumpkins and decided to try for a group picture while moods were good!

Lola didn't much care for such a bumpy ride!

Off to find the perfect pumpkin...

There is one rule, you must be able to carry it yourself! (Even at 1, 2, and 4!)

Lola found a BIG one first and was so excited!

Pumpkin hunting was hard work, and it was HOT! Before leaving we had to get some good 'old country lemonade, boiled peanuts, and pork rinds!

What a fun-filled day we had with our little family! We can't wait until next year!

Last week, we had a special friend over (a.k.a: our guardian angel), and as she was leaving she realized her car wouldn't start! How frustrating! :( Well while we were waiting on help to arrive, "the mechanics" came to the rescue! With doctor's tools and baby doll items, they went to work! They had the best time and turned a frustrating time into a fun time. And low and behold, when the TRUE help arrived, he cranked up the car with no problem! So the doctor's tools worked like a charm! :)

Last Friday, I took off a little early to surprise Lyla and pick her up in CARLINE at daycare! This has been a wish of hers and with me being a teacher, this is a hard wish to fulfill! I was so excited as I knew she would have the biggest smile on her face when I arrived. Just like I knew, she was sitting outside waiting patiently when I arrived with that precious smile. I tried to get a picture. Her director said that is the biggest smile she has ever seen at carline!

After I picked her up, Lyla and I were off for a weekend at Meme's - JUST THE TWO OF US! Grandmother graciously came and kept the other two with Daddy while while we traveled south to see Miss Hannah (my niece) in the National Peanut Festival Pageant. It was great mommy and daughter time too! On our way there we pulled through DQ and got blizzards and arrived at Meme's just in time to get ready to go see Hannah in her first night of competition as Miss Abbeville. She did amazing on Friday night, and Lyla did great sitting the whole time watching and keeping entertained with markers, crayons, and our IPad! :) Afterwards, it was Mexican for dinner!

On Saturday we slept in and Lyla went to work with Meme while Mama had some relaxation time! It was a great day and very QUIET! Papa Charles, Matthew, and Mills begin cooking and getting ready for the BAMA game while we were getting ready for another night of pageant! Meme, Lyla, and I headed back again for a night of fun. We watched Hannah and even though she did not win, she did an amazing job! She looked beautiful, and we were very proud of her! Afterwards, us girls went to dinner at Ruby Tuesdays.

Sunday came too soon, and it was time for us to head home! Even though we were sad to leave, we were ready to see our other girls and Daddy at home! Thank you, Meme and Papa Charles, for a great weekend!

15 months old!!!

Lola,

WOW! Time flies! I can't believe you are already 15 months old. You are growing up and getting to be a little girl more and more each day instead of a baby. You have taken off! After your few steps at your 1st birthday party, it didn't take you long to go from crawling to walking and now to RUNNING! You are a very busy little girl and you keep up with everyone's every move! We have to watch you closely because you LOVE to climb! I can turn my back for one minute and turn back around and you are on top of a table. You adore your sisters and can hold your own. If you want something, you get it! (Even if it involves pulling hair or biting! :( ) You have a mouth full of teeth...in the last couple of months, you have gotten in your 12 month molars and several other top and bottom teeth. I think more appear each week! You are full of words and try to say whatever anyone else says! You can even say "princess"! Your favorite thing to say is "DADDY" and "PACI". When you get excited, you even call me "Daddy" even though you can say "Mama". You can say "shh" and "nice" and point your finger. You have a sweet voice, and I love to hear it. You are so friendly and happy! You love to wave, blow kisses, and hug. You LOVE to be held and if someone isn't holding you, you will hold onto their legs until they pick up even if they are trying to walk! We finally took away your very last night time bottle. You did great! I know it was harder on Mama than you. :( You LOVE milk and prefer it over juice. You love to eat and will eat just about anything! The one thing you don't love is corn. Your favorite breakfast food is mini pancakes and banana. You love green beans and marshmellows! You love school and blow me kisses and wave bye-bye when I leave. When I come to pick you up, you run to me about to cry (I hope because you are excited!). You have learned how to sleep on a cot at school. You love bath time, playing with baby dolls, and BOOKS. You follow directions VERY well and do things we tell you to do. You still wear a size 4 diaper and are wearing 18 month clothing. You are wearing a size 3 shoe. Today you went for your check-up. Here are your stats:

Last weekend I had the pleasure of getting to go to a Bama game with friends all alone! That never happens!!! LOL! It was a last minute thing and thanks to Ashley and my in-laws I was able to go. I had the best time tailgating with friends. Even better, Alabama won!

Last weekend, Hurricane Lee brought a lot of rain to our area! Before the storm got really bad, the girls wanted to go out and play in the rain. They had the best time with their umbrellas. Unfortunately the storm brought too much wind and rain and left many in our area without power for several days. We were very lucky to be spared, and therefore we were able to be hosts to a few of our friends for one night!!

la, la, la, la, LA...THE SMURFS!!!!!

We love the Smurfs at our house. It is Smurfs in the car, Smurf figurines and stuffed animals in the house....the Smurfs are everywhere! Lyla and Lily love them. It brings back such memories to Ashley and me from when we were little. SO...last weekend we went on a family date night to the

DRIVE-IN MOVIES to see the SMURFS!!! It was the perfect outing for our family. We ate pizza for dinner on the way and then headed to the movies. With three little ones, we are not exactly quiet, so this setting was perfect! We had the best time even if Lola was all over the place!! :)

It's Officially Football Season...

which means busy times for the Carlisle family and LONG days without daddy!!! The past few weeks have been hectic getting used to our "new" school routine. We are adjusting and live for Saturdays (Daddy's only day off)! Daddy is loving his new school with his new coaching friends, and the girls and I are having fun on Friday nights going to watch the GOLDEN BEARS play some football. The girls and I are slowly building our "gold and black" wardrobe so that each Friday night we can be dressed to cheer on the Bears. Last week, they got their first win of the season!! Congratulations to Daddy and his team!! Your cheerleaders love you!
